Getting started

What is a path, and how do I switch?

A path is your structured learning track in BlaBlaAHA!. It organizes your learning into units and helps guide what you work on next.

Paths are designed to be followed from start to finish, but there is nothing stopping you from browsing around and dipping into other units whenever you want.

To switch paths, go to Your Path from Home, tap All Paths in the top right, choose the path you want, then tap Set as Current Path.

We are adding new paths all the time, so it is worth checking back if you do not see the exact one you want yet.

What are CEFR levels?

CEFR levels are a standard way of describing language proficiency, from beginner to advanced. In BlaBlaAHA!, they are part of the learning setup and help the app choose content that matches your current level.

A1
Beginner. You can use very simple words and short everyday phrases.
A2
Elementary. You can handle basic conversations about familiar topics.
B1
Intermediate. You can manage many everyday situations and say more about your thoughts and experiences.
B2
Upper intermediate. You can speak more naturally and understand more detailed explanations.
C1
Advanced. You can follow and express more complex ideas with confidence.
C2
Proficient. You can understand and use the language at a very high level.
What languages do you support?

Right now, our main focus is English to Spanish.

The reason is simple: the founder, Dan, is struggling to learn Spanish too, so that is where the first attention is going.

We plan to add more languages over time. If you do not see the one you want yet, it is not available yet.

BlaBlaAHA! ... what a stupid name.

You are.

Account and devices

Do I need an account before I can start using BlaBlaAHA!, and why should I secure it with Apple?

No. You can start using BlaBlaAHA! straight away as a guest.

Later, you can connect your account to Apple if you want extra peace of mind. This helps because:

  • Your progress is safer.
  • Your subscription can follow you across your Apple devices.
  • You are less likely to lose access to your account.

If you started as a guest, open your profile from Home and tap the Apple sign-in button in the Account section.

If you do this later, your progress should stay with your account.

Can I use BlaBlaAHA! across my Apple devices?

Yes. If you sign in with the same account on another Apple device, your account and subscription should come with you.

A few caveats still apply:

  • You may need to turn notifications on for each device separately.
  • Some small playback details may not match perfectly everywhere.
  • Offline listening is not supported yet.
How do I delete my account or request my data?

If you want to delete your account or ask for your data, email [email protected].

We aim to handle these requests within one month.

Notifications

How do I change my notification settings?

Open your profile, then go to Notification Preferences.

There are two places to check:

  • Your iPhone notification settings
  • Your BlaBlaAHA! notification settings

Both need to be turned on if you want to receive notifications.

You can choose updates about your learning, your requests, and lessons you created. There is also a daily success reminder at 9 PM if you listened for at least 5 minutes that day.

Why aren’t I receiving notifications?

The most common reason is that notifications are turned off on your iPhone.

For notifications to arrive, both of these need to be turned on:

  • iPhone notifications for BlaBlaAHA!
  • The right notification setting inside the app

They can also stop after signing out or reinstalling the app.

Subscriptions and usage

How do subscriptions, listens, and generation requests work?

BlaBlaAHA! counts listening and new content requests separately.

So you may still be able to listen even if you have used up your requests for new generated content.

How are listens tracked on the free plan?

On the free plan, a listen is counted when you start playing a lesson.

Pausing and starting again does not use another listen straight away.

The current free plan includes 5 listens per month.

Why do some lessons or audio need to be requested first?

Some lessons need to be prepared when you ask for them, rather than being ready in advance.

That is why you may be able to listen as normal but still have a limit on asking for brand new content.

When do my limits reset?

Your allowance resets once a month.

Right now, the free plan includes:

  • 5 listens per month
  • 10 monthly generation requests

Paid plans may show unlimited access instead.

Why does my subscription say cancelled if I still have access?

Usually, it means your subscription will not renew again.

You may still keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

How do refunds work?

Apple handles purchases and subscriptions, so refund requests usually need to go through Apple.

If something looks wrong afterwards, reopen BlaBlaAHA! and try restoring your purchases or refreshing your subscription.

If it still does not look right, email support and we can help.

Playback

Can I listen with AirPods, Bluetooth, or AirPlay?

Yes. BlaBlaAHA! uses iOS playback routes and supports external audio outputs such as headphones, Bluetooth devices, car audio, and AirPlay.

Can I listen offline?

Not yet. The current app has some cached state, but listening still depends on server-backed checks and tracking, especially for limited plans.
